Most of the photos on this page were taken in San Diego (while attending college), Reggae on the River, Reggae in the Park (SF) or Jamaica. Though I never photographed Peter Tosh, I did see him with the Rolling Stones, Santana, and Eddie Money in Oakland on July 26th, 1978.

I was with Third World when they received word of his death. I was standing and talking to the manager when the phone in the room rang. I'll never forget the sadness that came over their camp. I walked outside to give them some time to be alone, and remember standing on the balcony at Humphreys with one of their entourage next to me. He was just standing there, looking into the sky. The moon light revealed the tears rolling down his face. Third World almost cancelled the second show but decided to play in honor of Tosh. They never mentioned it to the crowd. They did however play an outstanding version of "Hold on to Love".

One week later Peter Tosh was due to play San Diego. I had met and photographed every Reggae act that came through southern California. I was anxiously awaiting Peter Tosh's arrival.

Some of these photographs appeared on "The Reggae on the River ~ 10th Anniversary" two CD set and will soon be published in ""The Encyclopedia of Reggae: The Golden Age of Roots Reggae".
