Where Were U Oct. 20th, 1977
I'll never forget the night of October 20, 1977. I had the Streets Survivors album less then a week. I already knew all the songs and most of the lyrics. On that night, frynds and I had drove up to the top of Turtle Hill which over looks the Sunset District of San Francisco. We were listening to
Lynyrd Skynyrd
on the radio, enjoying some beers and just having a good time. When all of a sudden the radio announcer came over the waves to tell us about the bad news. We had just seen
Lynyrd Skynyrd
in Oakland at a "Day on the Green" just three months earlier and were all talking about and looking forward to seeing them indoors at Winterland come January 13, 1978. We were floored by the tragic news. I remember us walking to the edge of the mountain and looking out over the Sunset District and Pacific Ocean. The cloud formations were beautiful. All of a sudden it started to rain and we all stood there getting wet not really caring about anything but the millions of people this tragic event and huge loss would affect. We were devastated and quite upset. When I finally got home, I listened to every
Lynyrd Skynyrd
album I had :(
